Customize ChatGPT Settings to Avoid Tells
Open Settings:
Log in to ChatGPT, click your profile icon (top-right), and select Settings.
Access Custom Instructions:
In Settings, click Custom Instructions.
Add Overused Words:
In How would you like ChatGPT to respond?, list phrases to avoid (e.g., “Avoid words like leverage, game-changer, cutting-edge, delve, etc.”). Or copy/past the table above.
Save Changes:
Scroll down and click Save to apply your preferences.
Test & Adjust:
Generate responses and tweak the list as needed to keep the language fresh and human.
Keep a list of prompts in a Google doc to copy/paste as needed. When giving a prompt, try something like: "Write a response without using terms like 'leverage,' 'game-changer,' or 'cutting-edge” (or import the table above) to remind the AI to stay human.
No matter how well-trained the model is, always treat the first output as a rough draft. Polish, fact-check, iterate…..
